Hello everyone and welcome to our newest Sims 4 joint legacy, The Quest Log! This is a joint legacy between MeadowThayer (me!) and Taube. We've written one other joint legacy together in the Sims 2, The Hues Legacy, you can find the link to that part of the blog on the navigation bar at the top.
This is our founder, Atari Quest. As you may have guessed by the title of the legacy, and by the founder's name, this is going to be a video game themed legacy. Each generation will be named after a specific video game. So, for example, I chose to name generation two after World of Warcraft characters.
For something a little different, Roxanne (Taube) and I decided to utilize this island lot for Atari's quest to begin. Neither of have seen very many people use this lot in legacies we've read, and I personally have used the other lot in this neighborhood many times already, so the change of scenery will be nice. Plus, we are hoping we'll see Emily the Sea Monster!
As you have already guessed, this is going to be an extreme start. So, before we take a closer look at our founder, let's go over some of the other rules Roxanne and I have picked for this legacy.
Bloodline Law: Strict Traditional, this means that all heirs must be blood related to the founder and her descendants.
Heir Law: Exemplar, since this is a video game themed legacy, we decided we want all heirs to possess the geek trait. If no sim has the geek trait, but one has the genius trait then that child will be heir. If no child has either of those traits, Roxanne and I will make a decision based on what traits each child possesses.
Kid Law: Each generation will have between 3 to 6 children depending upon if geek or genius appears, and how many sims are already living in the house.
Joint Legacy Law: Roxanne and I will switch turns when the youngest child in the generation becomes a teenager.
Now what you've all been waiting for - a closer look at our founder!
We tried to make Atari's personality and aspiration fit the legacy pretty closely, which is why she's a computer whiz with traits like geek, genius, and cheerful. As mentioned before, we decided that we feel geek is an important trait in this family, and so we only want heirs who possess this trait. It's going to be a little tricky, but we'll create a failsafe in case we come to a generation where nobody has the trait and we've reached the maximum number of children we want to have.
Since it's an extreme start, Atari needs to make some money so that she's able to purchase the knight. The extreme start rules forbid her from purchasing anything else until the knight has been purchased.
There weren't a lot of nodes or plants on her lot, but I made sure to have her dig and harvest the ones that she was able to find, unfortunately she kept finding really low valued items.
Since she wasn't having much luck with plants and nodes, I decided to have her try her hand at fishing off the little beach area on her lot.
This didn't turn out to work so well either as the very first fish she caught was a tuna worth §0. However, after a little while she started catching fish that had a decent value.
Atari is already living up to the theme of this legacy and can be found playing games on her phone whenever she finishes fishing.
*Side note, while it isn't changed in this picture, Maxis implemented a little hidden feature that allows you to change the appearance of your sim's phone. Just open the phone like you want to call someone, and up near the notepad there's a little icon that looks like the recolor tool (I believe) and you can pick a color! It's quite cool!
By the end of the evening, Atari's needs are all critically low, but she finally had enough money to purchase the knight. She was left with §91, not enough to purchase any of the necessity items to help her with her needs.
With no money for a toilet or a bed, I sent Atari to a community lot to pee and then brought her back home and she slept in a bush. That's true legacy living right there.
Unfortunately, her job doesn't start until Tuesday and so it's going to be a little while before she has any money.
Since she had a little bit of money, and she needed a shower, I sent her to the gym in San Myshuno for a shower and then she purchased a hot dog from the food cart for lunch. She tried to haggle first, but unfortunately it didn't work out for her.
Poor girl can't catch a break though, because only seconds after finishing her hot dog, Atari passes out on the ground.
A good simmer would send her home to sleep in the bush or have her nap on a bench, but I didn't, I saw a cute redheaded sim that I quickly had her greet. She met him and then passed out mid conversation (somehow I didn't get a pic) and then he left before she woke up. Bummer.
However, as fate would have it, that evening after Atari's needs had been brought up, Wayne called her up and invited her to go to the Humor and Hijinks festival. She went along and chose to support the humor team, and their team won. Plus, Atari and Wayne get along so well, I mean just look at how they're looking at each other!
I later found out that Emily the Sea Monster only shows up on the lot for The Bluffs, so I sent Atari there one afternoon simply because I wanted to see Emily. And sure enough, she showed up exactly where they said she would. I wish I was able to click her and have sim react to seeing her or something.
Here's a closer view of her. Unfortunately, she didn't stay out very long, which was a bummer. But she's still really cool.
If you're interested in finding her, go to the bluffs and go near where the campfire is and look out at the water. She'll always spawn between the ships, and I think both times I've seen her have been when there were four ships out. She spawns closer sometimes too, she spawned pretty close when I was playing my legacy, the Hayden Legacy.
When Atari first moved in, she had received a text message from Vladislaus Straud that said:
"Hello there, I just wanted to welcome you to the community and...my that's a lovely neck you have there."
Well, it looks like he really liked her neck because he broke into her little box one evening and began mesmerizing her. He had shown up at her lot the evening that he sent the text, but Atari was awake and didn't have a box/house so he just left.
Atari must have been a tough catch because he mesmerized her until she was awake, and then until she made it outside of her little box.
Then, he fed from her once he had her outside, and I got the following notification from him:
"I'm stuffed! Couldn't drink another bite! I won't turn her, but Atari's so delicious it would take a LOT of garlic to keep me away next time! I'll be back when I crave another midnight snack."
After Vladislaus left, Atari went back to sleep. When she woke up, I sent her to the library to work on the things necessary for her to get a promotion at work as well as the first part of her Computer Whiz aspiration.
With the few promotions she's gotten, Atari's tiny box was able to get a little bigger.
Please direct your eyes to the mounted fish on the wall. This is the tuna she caught on day one that was worth §0. He has now been mounted and will be a family treasure. His name is going to be Charlie, after the mascot Charlie the Tuna for the StarKist brand of tuna. I don't eat tuna, but I thought this was a fitting name.
The romance festival has rolled around, and I sent Atari and Wayne down to the festival together to try to boost their relationship up some so that the next generation of Quests can be on the way!
To the dismay of one of the patrons in the bar, Atari and Wayne had ended up in the bar when they shared their first kiss, rather than at the actual festival with all he other lovebirds.
Dismayed Patron: Are they jumping and giggling?
Dismayed Patron: I just came here to drink and sing my sorrows away, normally those festival goers are too busy throwing petals at each other to come here. Pour me your strongest drink.
Despite the party pooper in the background, Atari and Wayne became boyfriend and girlfriend.
Atari: Wayne, I was wondering if you'd like to move in with me? I don't have much, but...
Wayne: Of course Atari! I'd love to move in with you, but I should warn you, I'm kind of a slob.
He was right, he's definitely a slob. Luckily, he's cute and his other traits and his aspiration make up for him having one lousy trait. Besides, they can always hire a maid or something if it gets to be too bad.
I kept his outfit the same and just changed his shoes and gave him a tattoo because I felt this outfit made the tattoo really pop.
Later that evening, on their personal little beach, Atari got down on one knee and popped the question to Wayne.
Atari: Wayne, I know that normally the guy is the one that's supposed to do this, but I just couldn't wait for that. I love you and I want to spend every day for the rest of my life with you. I don't care that you're a slob, I just care that you help me carry on my legacy. So, what do you say, will you marry me?
Wayne: Of course I'll marry you Atari! I can't imagine anyone better to spend my life with!
They then did the cute little excited/happy dance that sims do. It's really cute, but I think I miss the jumping into the other one's arms interaction that would occur afterward in the Sims 2.
After changing their clothes, the couple had a private ceremony on their beach. I suppose you could say that I officiated their wedding.
As the sun became to come up on a brand new day, the couple became Mr. and Mrs. Quest and entered into their new lives as husband and wife.
And apparently, also as parents because shortly after the wedding, Atari took a pregnancy test and found out that she was pregnant with their first child.
Atari: Wayne, I have big news! I'M PREGNANT! We're going to be parents!
Wayne: But Atari, we barely even have room in our little box for us, how are we going to take care of a baby? What about when they become a toddler?
Atari: As a baby they won't take up very much room, and by the time they become a toddler we'll have more money. We just have to make sure we save up!
Atari immediately began getting morning sickness only moments after sharing her big news with Wayne. In my experience, most of the time this means multiples. I could be wrong, however.
Pregnancy has been really hard on Atari. All Atari wanted was a bowl of cereal, and instead she peed herself in front of the fridge.
Then, after taking a shower to clean herself up after peeing herself, she passes out on the floor.
The next day is the same thing - she's cleaning up trash, and she pees herself. She just can't catch a break.
This picture is probably the most accurate representation of a legacy founder that I can think of.
Luckily, the pregnancy is coming to an end and Atari is going into labor with the first baby of generation two! Remember, this generation is going to be named after World of Warcraft characters.
I guess I should make that babies. Meet baby girl Vereesa and baby boy Rhonin Quest!
Thanks to the many promotions that Atari and Wayne have been getting at work, the family has been able to get a decent sized home. I prioritized putting Wayne and Atari's bed in its own room so that the twins don't wake both parents up when they're crying at night, that way I can choose whoever has the highest needs to get up and care for them.
I just about died when I saw this face. He's grossed out by his OWN stink and that's just too funny. Plus, his facial expression is priceless.
Time flies by and it's already for the twins to become toddlers! As you can see, they definitely aged up to be super cute, but need a makeover.
After getting a closer look at Vereesa in the mirror, I think she favors her father while having her mother's hair color. Granted, it's really hard to tell who they truly favor when they're toddlers.
Rhonin, with exception of having his father's hair color, definitely seems to favor Atari. I think he's going to have her big eyes and he has her eye color too.
After exiting the mirror, I find Vereesa dancing to the stereo and it's so adorable. I absolutely love her! She's one of the cutest toddlers I've had in my game.
Of course, I think her brother might have her beat for cutest toddler. I mean, just look at that face. Plus, this avocado shirt is the cutest thing.
I love how cute the toddler hug interaction is. It's something I really missed after we were forced to play TS4 without toddlers for so long, so I'm really glad that it's back. It provides for great pictures in addition to just being cute.
