It's a hard landing for Emmy but a hearty 'welcome back' to you and to the Quests. It's been a while since I updated my turn in The Quest Log, a joint video game-themed legacy between Haleigh/meadowthayer and me, Roxanne/Taube, but generation two heir Rhonin's family is still here and still has a ways to go! The twins (Emmy and Flora) are toddlers and Layton is a baby. Rhonin's wife, Jenny, and his parents, Wayne and founder Atari are all working hard to fund the new house, which is mostly still un-decorated, although the toddler room here is a notable exception. Also in the house is our kitty, Paolo, who is a bit of a trouble magnet. He's a very good cat, but things do have a suspicious tendency to break when he's in the room, and he's a free spirit so he loves going on little jaunts, leaving us wondering where the cat is. That is, when he's not breaking the plumbing with the power of his mind. Paolo: "Who, me? Never!" *shifty eyes* Layton...is not so exciting. Yet. His birthday is very soon, and the girls' is coming up not long after that. Things go quickly with a full house. Flora and Emmy get a lot of attention from their parents. I'm going for top-notch toddler with all the kids, and that requires quite a bit of micromanagement both from me and the adult sims. Sometimes this leaves them with precious little brainpower for other things...things like not eating rotting sandwiches when you don't need to because your wife has stocked the fridge with a variety of delightful excellent dishes thanks to her daily task in the chef career. Oh, Rhonin. That's not to say there isn't plenty of time where the girls are governing themselves. Emmy is independent, so she appreciates her alone time to work on her skills (alone does not mean without the delightful company of Paolo, obviously), but clingy Flora would rather have an audience. Yet it's Emmy who snuck away from the nursery to have a chat with her mom downstairs. Jenny is working on finishing her Bestselling Author aspiration. She's very close but could probably do without the distraction. Oh, hello Vereesa. Nice of you to help yourself to a rose petal bath in the master bathroom. Good to see you too. We're still getting regular visits from Rhonin's siblings, including his twin here. Making them all keyholders has turned out to be pretty entertaining. At least when Alleria visits she's a bit more helpful, but Vereesa has always had a mind of her own. In a young family with a lot going on, isn't it just the best feeling ever when everyone is asleep at the same time after a chaotic day? Mmm, they oughta bottle that. Still writing, Jenny at least gets a purring foot warmer to keep her cozy. Rhonin, meanwhile, has been doing a lot of exercising for his astronaut career, which has bottomed out his body weight. He was always a lanky boy anyway, but he's really skinny now. And I say astronaut, but I don't think they've let him anywhere near any of the fun stuff yet, so he's still in this endless loop of training for that moment. Occasionally he works on the rocket in the backyard, but there's not much point to it yet. As for Atari, she's working on Nerd Brain after a successful life as a gamer, not to mention founder of a legacy. That instant upgrade and her handiness skill in general will really be useful as we start to flesh out the furnishings more. As for Wayne? He's around somewhere. He doesn't really have very marketable skills since he can only license songs every so often, Atari's got handiness on lock, Jenny is a superb chef, and Rhonin excels at being a helicopter dad. Wayne also has the Mansion Baron aspiration like his son, so he's just waiting around for them to make more money before I can spend more money. So I've mostly left him on free will. Anyway, speaking of Atari's handiness, we'll be needing it here in the new laundry room to make sure our machines run at peak efficiency. This room is very, uh, yellow. Oh wow! So this has nothing to do with the family but I paused at the exact right moment during a thunderstorm, so I had to document this! We got a metal out of this too. Emmy grabs Jenny's attention before she can grow up Layton... ...so Rhonin gets to do the honors. That is quite the ensemble, Layton, honey. Layton desperately needed the potty so we didn't get a chance for a makeover until he had relieved himself with some coaching from his dad. The toddler room is *quite* chaotic right now. Now here's our little professor, and again with these kids getting the perfect traits for their namesakes! I really liked the glasses on him so I kept them, but the rest became a bit more reasonable. I gotta say, Layton is definitely Rhonin's boy. I don't remember exactly without checking, but I'm sure this is very similar facially to what Rhonin looked like as a toddler. While we're in CAS, here's a look at Paolo as an adult American Wirehair. I forgot to edit this picture and I'm lazy, and I can't remember if I did this before and, again, not checking because lazy, but Paolo is a free spirit, friendly, and - hey! - lazy. I also love the patch below his mouth because he looks like he's permanently making the D: face, which is often not that inappropriate in a legacy. I'm not sure who destroyed the dollhouse. Layton looks like a likely culprit from that face and proximity, but really he's just miffed because he had a potty accident. Flora's going to have to wait to max her imagination until someone can come repair it, though. As for Emmy, she's finishing thinking with the dreaded "Ask Why" interaction. She spams her mom and grandmother for a while while sitting on the bed like a queen on her throne holding court. (Please notice in the background that Flora got her dollhouse back.) Vereesa is less amused at the constant questions though. Lol. Ah! Finally! A promotion means that Rhonin is riding with the big kids now and can go on space missions for his job. Other than work shifts, it's pretty much all toddler skilling all the time as we race to finish the girls' skills for their upcoming birthday. To stick around longer for her grandchildren, Atari has her youth potion while doing laundry. We now catch up with our toddler twins down in the kitchen, with Emmy finding common ground with Paolo, while in her everyday clothes for pretty much the first time since she grew up. The reason is that it's birthday time! Jenny and Rhonin take turns helping the twins to blow out their candles. Wayne makes his first appearance in the chapter with this trademark Quest dorky-cute moment of synchronicity with Rhonin. And then all the fun is over and the cake goes back in the fridge to await another birthday. Rhonin and Jenny seem a little stunned that they're old enough to be the parents of elementary schoolers. Anyway, let's see how the twins grew up. Emmy, the elder of the twins, is a cat lover like her mom, and an aspiring artistic prodigy. She's got a lot of Rhonin's features, but she got her hair and eye color from her mom. I think the eye shape might end up being a blend between the two parents. She's adorable, needless to say. And Flora is a perfectionist whiz kid. She's identical to Emmy except for having a different hair color. She also picked up a pair of glasses like her brother now. No geek trait has yet appeared (the exemplar trait), so heirship is still up in the air. Any of the three could have a chance, and though *I* know that at least one of them will develop it, you'll just have to wait in suspense. :P The girls celebrate their birthday with their first meal at the dining room table with a surprise appearance by Sylvanas's butt. Then it's off to work on aspirations. Both of them did indeed get top-notch toddler, so they start out with 2 points in each child skill and a good skilling bonus. Flora isn't quite over her clinginess, since she needs an adult to read to her for Whiz Kid. Emmy also stays true to form by taking off by herself to the mostly empty playroom to draw. That leaves the nursery allllll to Rhonin, which he seems pretty happy about. Speaking of aspirations, Atari has finished Nerd Brain. Her next one is Fabulously Wealthy because I didn't want three mansion barons. I'm not sure if she'll make it, but we'll give it a shot. I was lining up this picture of her playing chess to celebrate when I hear a horrible noise outside the house... Uh, Rhonin, I know you're new to your position, but I'm pretty sure that's not how you're supposed to land rockets. Hopefully he survives. We've got the kids for gen 3, but we could still use our current heir too. Luckily, he's able to pull himself from the wreckage, though he emerged with a very strong dazed moodlet. While he naps that off, Paolo keeps an eye on him. Good cat. The girls are hard at work and climbing those aspirations. It seems like kids often grow up before weekends and holidays in my game, so they're not going in to school quite yet, which is extra annoying in Flora's case since she'll take longer to finish her aspiration if she has to wait to get her A in school. In the meantime, she ropes in Wayne for chess games while Emmy gets to play with Tentacle Tom. As for Layton, he's making great progress too, but things sure are busy in the house at the moment. It's a welcome break when he goes down for a nap. This also allows Jenny time to write the final bestseller for her aspiration, earning her the Poetic trait. I'll be having her write Books of Life to help the children's needs while they skill. And our two mansion barons are happy because I finally got around to getting them the landscaping they needed. It took the form of a nice backyard pool area, which Rhonin promptly broke in for the picture on the cover, despite it being a wet and chilly winter's day. He quickly started to freeze to death while napping. Warm and dried off back inside, he takes a moment to shower Paolo with some attention. With two cat lovers and also other sims that can't seem to leave him alone, friendly Paolo gets plenty of love from this family. As it should be. :) Emmy: "Hey, Dad? So Grandpa's been in the chapter exactly twice since he runs around on free will. What do you think would be noteworthy enough for a third appearance?" Rhonin: "Gosh, I don't know. He leads kind of a quiet life these days. You know your Grandpa, always on the gaming mat or trying to kill himself on my treadmill. Why do you ask?" Emmy: "Oh, no reason. But have you seen my bubble solution?"
Yes, Wayne just had to try out the bubble blower, but it didn't go so well for him. Between him choking on bubbles and Rhonin trying to freeze to death in the pool, this is shaping up to be a tempting backyard. As the house fills out more, I'm enjoying putting down activities for the sims to do for fun, since they work hard and play hard in this family (at least now that they have a little money - before they pretty much just worked hard since this was an extreme start on Haleigh's turn!). But all that will have to wait for next time because we've reached the end of the chapter. I've played ahead some, so we'll see how soon I can get another one out. Thanks for reading! Check in with Haleigh and I at Boolprop! Bye!
